Project (Claude, ChatGPT)

A project is a binder the AI rereads before answering you. You keep conversations, files and instructions on one topic in it, and every new conversation in the project starts from there.

Definition

Project (Claude, ChatGPT), in plain words

Without a project, every conversation starts from scratch and you explain everything again. With a project, your brochure, your prices and your writing style are already there.

Claude and ChatGPT both have projects. In ChatGPT, you can also start a Work task from a project, with its context.

A concrete example

You create a "My business" project, add your brochure and price list, and write one instruction: "always answer in a warm, friendly tone". Every new conversation starts from there.

Why it matters

Don't mix it up with

ChatGPT Work : Work is the ChatGPT mode that completes a whole task, in several steps, and hands back a document, a spreadsheet, a deck or a site.

Cowork (Claude) : Cowork is Claude working on your computer. You give it a folder, and it reads, sorts and creates files inside it.

Common mistakes

  • Putting everything in one catch-all project.
  • Uploading confidential documents without checking the privacy settings.
  • Forgetting to update the files when your prices change.
