Definition

AI browser, in plain words

With a regular chatbot, you copy the page and paste it. With an AI browser, the AI already sees the page, you just ask your question.

The best known are Perplexity's Comet and OpenAI's Atlas. Chrome is adding AI features too, and the Claude desktop app has its own built-in browser.

A concrete example

On a product page, you ask "compare with the two other tabs and tell me the cheapest one delivered before Saturday". It reads the three pages and answers.

Why it matters

The AI sees what you see, so you stop copying and pasting pages.

Perplexity's Comet, OpenAI's Atlas, Chrome's AI features and the browser built into the Claude desktop app.

Don't mix it up with

ChatGPT Atlas / Operator :

Perplexity Comet :

Common mistakes

  • Letting it sign in to your accounts without watching.
  • Thinking a malicious page cannot trick it.
  • Using it to buy something without checking the cart.
